3 great days !
The CEJA-JA
seminar in Annecy, France is already over! What a full and high quality
event!
The
European young farmers enjoyed the very nice place and surroundings of
the seminar, with a beautiful
view on the lake and
the Alps. While the sun was not warming us all the time, we had the
chance to enjoy a nice weather during the farm visits and the cocktail
with the Ministers.
The first
day started with the arrival of the French Minister for Agriculture Mr.
Barnier and his warm welcome, while William Villeneuve, JA President,
Peter Szasz, CEJA vice-President and Mr. Queyranne from the welcoming
region Rhône-Alpes introduced the 2 following working days. Mariann
Fischer Boel responded also to our call and after a realistic speech on
the coming challenges for young farmers, responded as usual to the
questions and remarks of the participants.

Interesting round tables then gathered relevant speakers about three hot
topics: food security, sustainable agriculture and growth in rural
areas. Time was given to the participants to express their regional or
national concerns and discuss their opinions with the speakers.
The first
day ended with an aperitif where young farmers from the region proposed
local products to eat and drink. French food was then experienced by the
participants as for the entire seminar. For sure the stomach of some
participants still remembers it!

Monday was
more an “among CEJA” working day with 4 working groups, the discussion
on the CEJA declaration and farm visits. COPA President Lemétayer made a
speech on the challenges of the new generation of farmers and the
political directions to keep. The results of the working groups were
presented by each chairman and the declaration was then discussed and
adopted. Two groups enjoyed the visit of farms producing milk for
cheese, one of them selling the milk to a cooperative that produces the
cheese “Roblochon”.

In the
evening it was time to meet the Ministers in Annecy for a cocktail
organized by the French Presidency in the beautiful garden of the
Imperial Palace. It was a great opportunity for most of the young
farmers to meet and talk with their Minister. A CEJA delegation also
enjoyed the pleasure of a dinner with the Ministers and other guests
where champagne and good wines have been more than appreciated!
On
the third day, Giacomo Ballari presented the CEJA declaration to the
Ministers in the beginning of the Informal Council meeting. Other CEJA
members had the chance to
listen in
the press area. Later in the morning, the Presidents of CEJA and JA took
part in a press conference. The journalists showed a lot of interest in
young farmers’ ideas and where impressed by the high quality answers
they received. You will find their articles below.
While
part of the delegation was in Annecy, the CEJA working groups met in
small committees at the seminar place. After lunch, some of the
participants enjoyed the lake and even tasted its temperature, and then
it was already the time to go home!
Thanks to
all the French team which was very well organized and made this seminar
successful and pleasant to all of us!
